Staying at The Robey, Chicago, a Member of Design Hotels, was a delightful experience that encapsulated the true essence of the Wicker Park neighborhood. The modern art deco style of the hotel was impressive and added an elegant charm to our stay. The location is unbeatable, nestled close to amazing bars, restaurants, and right next to the Blue Line, making it incredibly convenient for getting around the city.

The room, although on the smaller side, was impeccably clean and well-appointed with all the necessary amenities including a mini-bar, flat-screen TV with streaming services, and a comfortable seating area. The bed was very comfortable, and we were thrilled with the stunning views of Chicago from our window. The rooftop pool and bar were definite highlights, offering a unique vantage point to take in the cityscape.

The staff was generally helpful and attentive, though there were a few minor hiccups. The concierge service was excellent, but the valet service sometimes left us waiting, which was a bit frustrating. Additionally, the lighting system in the room was somewhat confusing, and the closet space was limited without any drawers for clothes, making unpacking a bit tricky.

We enjoyed the quirky and cool vibe of the hotel, and the 90’s themed bar was a nostalgic and fun place to relax. However, the housekeeping staff could have been a bit more considerate as their timing was sometimes intrusive.

Overall, despite a few small drawbacks, The Robey, Chicago, offers a unique and memorable stay in a vibrant part of the city. It’s perfect for those looking to experience more of the local flavor while still enjoying a high level of comfort and style.

    1. Tiia

[+] The room was cozy, clean, and offered a lovely view. The restaurant was excellent with delicious food and great service. It was a comfortable stay overall. The 90’s bar served as a nice daytime hangout spot, especially since there’s no lobby lounge.

[-] The lighting system was somewhat confusing, and the closet was too small with no drawers for clothes. I would prefer not being located near the elevator next time.

    2. David

[-] I have no complaints at all.

[+] The room design was fantastic! The bed was extremely comfortable, and the view was absolutely breathtaking. Despite living in Chicago for 17 years, we had never experienced the city from that perspective before.

    5. Steven

[+] The building and room layout were very impressive. The Queen bed with a lofted twin was ideal for us and our college-aged son. The view from the rooftop bar was breathtaking, and we were conveniently close to our evening’s entertainment at Andy’s Jazz Club.

    6. Stephen

[+] The room was very clean, and the location was fantastic. This is honestly one of the best hotels in Chicago if you’re looking to avoid staying in the Loop and want to experience the neighborhood vibe of Wicker Park. It’s close to excellent bars and restaurants, and it’s conveniently located next to a train stop.
[-] The valet service wasn’t always available at the desk, so there were times I had to wait. Additionally, the room is a bit pricey considering its size.

    7. Wendy

[+] Excellent location, delicious meals, and fantastic bar. The staff were wonderful as well.
[-] It was a bit challenging to locate the valet service because we approached from a direction where the valet sign wasn’t visible.

    8. Misty

[+] The hotel has a modern vibe with a charming antique touch. The room service is excellent, and the beds are very comfortable.
[-] However, housekeeping was a bit too persistent. They even came in while I was showering, which made me feel uncomfortable.

    9. Caouette

[+] The art deco style was appealing.
[-] The entrance was hard to find, and the hallway could use better lighting.

    10. Kristi

[+] The location in Wicker Park is fantastic. It’s conveniently close to the Blue Line, yet it wasn’t too noisy. There are amazing bakeries and bars just outside the doors.
[-] However, the room was extremely small for the price, making it seem more appropriate for a single occupant.
